Indiana University Hosts Mini-Marathon and Run/Walk for Mesothelioma

On April 2, residents hit the streets in Bloomington, Indiana for the sixth annual IU Mini Marathon and 5K Run/Walk. More than 1,000 participants wound through the Indiana University campus, downtown and through neighborhoods on the city’s south side.

The marathon is arranged each year to benefit the Bill Z. Littlefield Scholarship Fund for IU students who are cancer survivors. It is named in honor of Bill Littlefield, an IU faculty member who died of mesothelioma in 2005. Mesothelioma is a rare but serious form of cancer caused by asbestos exposure.
