Stolen Jaguar Recovered After Police Chase

The Houston Chronicle reports two juveniles were arrested in the early hours of Feb. 15, 2018 after a north Houston chase involving a stolen Jaguar.

Houston police are still searching for two other suspects after the pursuit that started at 12:30 a.m. came to an end.

A patrol officer spotted a 2007 Jaguar as it ran a red light at the intersection of Aldine Bender Road and Imperial Valley Drive. The officer attempted to stop the Jaguar but it sped away. That officer later learned after running its license plate the Jaguar was stolen at gunpoint earlier this week by seven male suspects.

Police chased the stolen Jaguar for roughly two and a half miles before the driver hit a dead end in the 1100 block of Goodnight Trail, sliding into a drainage ditch.

Four people jumped out of the car and fled, but Lt. Larry Crowson of the Houston Police Department said officers were able to detain two of them while two others escaped. Police found a stolen gun inside the car.

Crowson said the two arrested suspects refused to identify themselves, but police identified them as using a mobile fingerprint identification system. Both suspects were juveniles with previous arrests; the 14-year-old driver was on parole from juvenile detention in Harris County, while the 16-year-old passenger is on probation. One of the suspects was wearing an ankle monitor indicating they were on bond or serving probation, but Crowson did not identify which.

The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office confirmed the Jaguar was stolen at approximately 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 in Humble, north of Houston. A woman told officials she was collecting her mail at a community mailbox near her home when seven young men robbed her at gunpoint and stole her car.

Houston police said they will work with the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office to determine if any of the suspects from the Feb. 15, 2018 pursuit were also involved in the Feb. 13, 2018 incident.
