Tempur-Pedic Product Warning

EDITOR’S NOTE: Allen Stewart P.C. is no longer pursuing new Tempur-pedic claims. However, we are still open to claims involving cancer connected to occupational or environmental chemical exposure. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer and believe it to be caused by chemical exposure,, contact Allen Stewart today.

Tempur-Pedic claims that its mattresses and pillows are “free of harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds) such as formaldehyde and CFC (chlorofluorocarbon)—harsh chemicals that can trigger allergies and asthma.” But testing shows that it’s just not true.

Formaldehyde Found in Tempur-Pedic Mattresses and Pillows

Laboratory testing has identified formaldehyde and other unwanted chemicals in Tempur-Pedic mattresses and pillows.

Formaldehyde is a volatile organic compound (VOC) that is a known human carcinogen. Formaldehyde is known to cause a number of cancers in humans:

  • Nasopharyngeal cancer,
  • Sinonasal (nasal and paranasal) cancer, and
  • Leukemia—especially myeloid leukemia—and other lymphohematopoietic cancers.

Exposure to Formaldehyde from Tempur-Pedic Products

A major source of airborne formaldehyde exposure in the general population is offgassing from home-furnishing and consumer products. Offgassing of formaldehyde from Tempur-Pedic products raises possible health concerns for those who own and sleep on Tempur-Pedic mattresses and pillows.
