Steve Baughman Jensen

Since his days as a college student, Steve Baughman Jensen has always been concerned about the systematic destruction of the environment by domineering corporate interests. During his first year of law school, “I read a case involving a chemical spill on the Mississippi River and its impact on local fishermen, tourism, and residents of the area. I was fascinated by the possibility of using private litigation as a means to securing environmental justice.” After a year-long position as a briefing attorney for then-Texas Supreme Court Justice Lloyd Doggett, Steve has devoted his career to toxic tort litigation.

James D. Piel

James D. Piel grew up in a small farming community in north-central Oklahoma and quickly learned that average people are far more important than, although often treated by the American justice system as far less important than, businesses and corporations. Following graduation from law school on the east coast, Jim started his legal practice at a major law firm and found himself engaged in complex work on behalf of corporations as diverse as high technology companies, major retailers and, eventually, the tobacco industry. His experiences confirmed his beliefs about the treatment of the common man in our system of justice, disillusionment soon followed, and Jim happily left the world of corporate legal defense to use his skills to work exclusively on behalf of individuals who have suffered physical injury as a result of the wrongful conduct of corporations.

Stephanie N. Brooks

Stephanie Brooks was born in Germany while her father was serving military duty on behalf of the United State’s Air Force. Upon her father’s completion of his service, her family returned to the United States to make a home in a small central Texas town where she spent her days riding and showing horses. After finishing law school in West Texas, Stephanie embarked on her legal career trying cases on behalf of one of the country’s most profitable corporations. Representing big corporations, Stephanie quickly learned that in order to be successful, she would have to master the art of deflecting corporate liability and trivializing the pain and suffering of individuals hurt through corporate negligence. Realizing that this was not her calling, Stephanie switched tables in 2001 and joined a plaintiffs’ firm. Since that time, Stephanie has devoted her practice to toxic tort litigation representing individuals who have been injured as a result of exposure to toxic chemicals. She has litigated a variety of toxic tort cases across the country including cases involving exposure to dioxins, arsenic, chromium, lead, and benzene. In addition to her toxic tort practice, she has also litigated products liability, premises liability, and pharmaceutical cases.
